Need your audiobook or podcast edited, tidied and ready for your listeners? I can shape your raw recording into great-sounding audio!
I’ve edited more than 4,000 hours of spoken-word audio for major publishers, across titles and series that have sold millions of copies: audiobooks, audio dramas, podcasts and long-form narration. I bring a director’s ear for the performance and an engineer’s ear for the sound.
I’ve produced enough audiobooks to know your recording took days of toil in the studio. And I know the editing process is laborious, that there’s thousands of misreads, fluffs, stumbles, lip noises, stomach growls, unwanted breaths, and awkward pauses that need fixing. I’ll edit all these, make your audio sound seamless and the performance the very best it can be.
My weapons of choice are Pro Tools and iZotope RX. I’ve used them every day for a decade and a half.
- In Pro Tools, I’ll apply cuts, edits, crossfades, and use room tone to make the recording sound like it was read in a single take.
- I use level automation and compression, evening out the voice while keeping the performance dynamic and engaging.
- I’ll apply EQ to add warmth and air and control harshness, plosives and sibilance.
- For detailed cleanup, I’ll use iZotope RX. De-clicking, mouth-noise reduction, spectral repair and noise reduction, all the tools to make the audio crystal clear.
- Pauses matter. They help shape a scene. I’ll add (or remove) them so your narration does justice to the text.
- Pickups need to adhere to the original read. I’ll match the tone and pace so they fit smoothly into the audiobook.
- I’ll make the audio meet the very exacting specifications required by Audible / ACX.
Need your audio cleaning up? Perhaps you’ve not got the best-sounding studio. Perhaps your audio is clipped or distorted. Send me your audio and I’ll repair it!
